Paris Fashion Week Reviews And Trends To Watch: Spring/Summer 2011

Paris Fashion Week is over and it's now time to review the best collections and to name the latest future trends to watch during spring/summer 2011. Take a look at the pieces I personally felt represented some of the best collections during fashion week:

Valentino
John Galliano
Giambattista Valli
Many designers presented great collections during fashion week, but all the buzz seems to be about Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Chloe, Giambattista Valli, Stella McCartney, John Galliano, Givenchy, Akris, Loewe, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lanvin, and Christian Dior.

One of my favorite moments was of course when Sarah Burton introduced her first collection since the death of Alexander McQueen. All of her pieces had his original traits as well as the same concepts of design - overall a great collection in her mentors name:

Future spring/summer 2011 fashion trends you should really be aware of are dots and ruffles - this is going to be huge, dots and ruffles were incorporated in Valentino, Lanvin, and other collections as well.

Designers like Mark Jacobs (who executed Louis Vuitton's collection) and Jean Paul Gaultier have chosen a rather interesting route, taking us back in time to the 70's and the 80's. Colorful prints were also in almost every collection during fashion week, take a look at these pieces from Loius Vuitton, Akris, and Stella McCartney - notice how detailed the prints of each piece are.

Exciting Moments During Fashion Week: Jean Paul Gaultier took us back to the 80's, and also had the lovely Beth Ditto walk the runway as well. This collection really stood out, was fun and revealed creativity with diverse selections of textures within it's pieces.

Nicky Hilton Launches Jewelry Line

Wow, it was just yesterday when I covered my story about fashionable jewelry, and now I just found out from a recent Paris Hilton tweet that Nicky Hilton has officially launched her own jewelry line! Let's consider this great news as part 2 of yesterday's Fashion Fix Scoop, enjoy:

As a teenager growing up, Nicky Hilton traveled many countries and tended to collect jewelry - that's when you she first found her passion for jewelry and knew she wanted to have her own line. Nicky was recently quoted in a FabSugar article talking about her experience growing up and collecting jewelry: "I’m a crazy jewelry collector. I've always known since I was a teenager that I wanted to do a line. Whenever I bought something, whether at a flea market in Paris or a bazaar in India, I've been collecting pieces".

This is a another great step in the fashion industry for Nicky, as she already designs clothing and used to also be a fashion model for the the Australian underwear line, Antz Pantz.

Her jewelry line which is rather affordable, is partnered with Titan Brands and wholesales at about $35 to $480, - the line features many Art Deco designs, as well as Spikes and Snakes a like. Nicky's jewelry line is available now at Endless.com, and will also be available soon in most department and specialty stores.

How To Avoid Over-Accessorizing This Fall Fashion Season

We all know jewelry and accessories go hand in hand when it comes to fashion, there are ways to rock jewelry and accessories to glam up certain outfits to make them more fashionable, but on the other hand - there's also a thing called over accessorizing. Here is today's fashion fix, enjoy:

(The Do Not's)
So now you're probably wondering where exactly is that line drawn between fashionably accessorizing your looks and over accessorizing them, and how can you avoid it? Well, it's all about selection - if you're wearing fur, you don't really need five necklaces, and if you're wearing metallics, be careful about wearing too much jewelry (you don't want to be so shiny out in public, it looks tacky).

(The Do's)
I'm pretty sure you've seen Paris Hilton and Victoria Beckham at many red carpet events wearing the latest of trends, and if these women wear jewelry they almost never over accessorize. By paying close attention to detail in their outfits, Paris and Victoria usually make it to the best dressed celebrities in magazine pages and they're rarely on the worst dressed celebrities page.

You can take a few pointers from them as well, by becoming more cohesive with your choice of colors and types of gems when pairing them with your outfits (gem stones usually go well with cocktail dresses, while colorful accessories and sunglasses tend to compliment most denim outfits). Jewelry and accessories are a great thing indeed, but one should always know the limits.

Here is tomorrow's line-up for Paris Fashion Week:

10am   - Stella McCartney
11am   - Emanuel Ungaro
12pm   - Leonard
1:30pm- Giambattista Valli
3:00pm- Zucca
4:00pm- Cloe
5:00pm- Commuun
6:00pm- Vanessa Bruno
7:30pm- Yves Saint Laurent

Add Some Metallics To Your Fall Fashion Wardrobe

Is your wardrobe feeling a little dull this fall, looking for a way to glam it up a little? Well, I know just what you need, one word - metallics.

I am absolutely obsessed with metallics, it's probably my favorite trend going on this season - anyone that is someone is totally rocking metallics this season:

Nicole Richie, Donatella Versace, Anna Wintour
The best thing about metallics is that it can be incorporated into almost anything - accessories, jackets, tops, bottoms, dresses, shoes, and even nail polish. There's no need to go overboard though, you can make a huge fashion statement by just incorporating a little bit of metallic elements into your gear.

After seeing many ready-to-wear spring/summer 2011 collections during fashion week this year, it's safe to say the trend of metallics is not going anywhere anytime soon - many designers have incorporated more metallics and golds into their collections. Take a look at these metallic pieces from Dennis Basso during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week NY:

Leopard Animal-Print Craze Takes Over Fall Fashion

You don't have to kill an animal or anything like that this fall season in order to be fashionable, but you sure can portray them with the latest trends in leopard animal-print! There's no better fashion statement out there at the moment better than the animal-print

Dita Von Tesse
Sarah-Jessica Parker

There seems to be a major fashion buzz going on right now all through out the industry with this latest trend of leopard and animal print. Designers everywhere are incorporating the theme of animal-print in many of their latest fall collections - Dolce & Gabbana has made some beautiful leopard printed cocktail dresses, and Salvatore Ferragamo has very chic leopard printed coats as well.

Celebrities of all sorts are also guilty of wearing animal print at lavish parties and red carpet events, I'm talking about A-list stars like Mary-Kate Olsen, Sarah-Jessica Parker, Eva Mendez, and Dita Von Tesse - so don't think that you're only going to be seeing animal-print on a dresses and tops, women everywhere are rocking animal-print on their handbags, shoes, and even accessories too.

Eva Mendes
Mary-Kate Olsen
